WORK IN PROGRESS

Lions Pounce Dance Theater presents a modern dance / ballet performance.

Mindscape

These are 10 original choreographed pieces with original music written by me. It is almost shockingly diverse in its manic stylistic eclecticism – i.e.: you don’t like one movement, wait a few - you will probably like the next one.
Sarah Berges is a notable and accomplished choreographer and Seda Aybay is a meteorically rising dance talent coming to us straight outta Istanbul Turkey.
This was a challenging project for me since I had to get busy and actually write / score / record some beautiful melodies and orchestrations – at least thats what they instructed me to do. I wasn’t able to just hook up a dope beat and take the rest of the day off to play Xbox – no, this is a whole other level of music making requiring things like melody, harmony, orchestration, dynamics, subtlety, nuance, ebb & flow – all the sorts of techniques that fell out of favor around the time that computers became inexpensive enough to allow us all to easily “hook up dope beats and-take-the-rest-of-the-day-off-to-play Xbox”.
Check out some short sample edits and see if I made it happen.

Performance dates: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 11, 12, 13 March 2005.

Location: The venue is “Focus Fish” 6121 Santa Monica Boulevard Los Angeles / Hollywood CA USA..

Tickets: Tickets are $20.00 – whining & complaining about the cost is strictly verboten – you are “supporting the arts” and getting some incredible entertainment – know what I'm saying???
You could pay $11.00 for some half-assed Hollywood car chase / gratuitous sex & violence movie, drop another $9 on Vanilla Coke and mealy popcorn with rancid butter that clogs your arteries and rots your teeth while enduring some acne-riddled teenagers high on X kicking the back of your seat and talking loudly through the only three pieces of dialogue in the entire movie that actually make any sense.
Or, you could pay $20 to come and hang with the Lions Pounce Dance Theater and – literally – get your azz kicked by the inspired mingling of music and dance – happening in real time before your eyes. Then you could go out afterwards with some fellow beautiful patrons-of-the-arts and have a double decaf soy latte with vegan sprout salad as you discuss weighty and profound topics and go home nourished spiritually, intellectually, artistically, and with healthy teeth. Oh yeah – additionally you get to kick it with me – and possibly grab an invite to the off-the-ringer after party––.

AND JUST ONE LAST LITTLE THING: It may not be totally obvious but the dancing is of course all the way live. The music itself is prerecorded – be grateful since you get the benefit of my mixing skills and need not suffer through an embarrassing display of my non-existent conducting skills–.
